Day 62-10: +$75.50 (+19 BB at $2/4)

Level: +$273.50 in 19.67 table hours (+68 BB at $2/4)
Overall: +$593.65 in 129.83 table hours

Another somewhat swingy day. I think that keeping myself under control preflop and being more self-aware (aware of my own image) has really been helping me make better decisions. It's something that I know I track subconsciously (because I can recall the last few hands I played, and about when they were), but including it as part of the conscious thought process is helpful because I can understand it better.

Most of the session was played 3-4 handed as the tables kept breaking. I normally don't do so well in these situations because I don't think I adjust to aggression well (obviously, something I'll have to improve on if I expect to keep moving up). But I did well enough.

Amazingly, I'm $26.50 from moving up again. It's an exciting time...

Hand 1: I was going to raise villain on the turn, but he slowed down and decided that he wanted to play showdown with A-high on a board with two broadway on it against a preflop button raise that called his flop bet. Good for him. (PS - It's a bad bad bad play 3-handed unless you know villain will auto-bluff and raises far too often preflop.)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Qd, Ac.
Hero raises, SB 3-bets, 1 fold, Hero calls.

Flop: (7 SB) 8c, 5s, Qs (2 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.50 BB) Jd (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.

River: (6.50 BB) 6d (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls.

Results:
SB has Td Ad (high card, ace).
Hero has Qd Ac (one pair, queens).

Hand 2: I should have bet this river against a weakish player. Afterwards, he called it "sick", but he made a very very loose preflop call and I had tons of outs on the turn to win.
Preflop: Hero is SB with Ac, Jh.
1 fold, Hero raises, BB calls.

Flop: (4 SB) 3h, 4s, 7h (2 players)

Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.

Turn: (4 BB) 2h (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, Hero calls.

River: (6 BB) 6h (2 players)
Hero checks, BB checks.

Results:
Hero has Ac Jh (flush, jack high).
BB has 4c 8c (one pair, fours).

Hand 3: More 3-handed action. Flop texture is key to making calls like this.

Preflop: Hero is Button with Tc, Ad.
Hero raises, 1 fold, BB calls.

Flop: (4.50 SB) 5d, 3d, 8s (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.25 BB) 7s (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

River: (6.25 BB) 3s (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

Results:
BB has Qd 2d (one pair, threes).
Hero has Tc Ad (one pair, threes).

Hand 4: The check behind on the flop is really really odd coming from an aggressive player. However, I had enough of a hand that I decided to peel on the turn, just in case he was doing something silly with something silly. It turns out he had a hand, but the river card bailed me out.

Preflop: Hero is SB with Ah, 9s.
Button raises, Hero 3-bets, 1 fold, Button caps, Hero calls.

Flop: (9 SB) Tc, 9c, 7h (2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

Turn: (4.50 BB) Jd (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero calls.

River: (6.50 BB) 8s (2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

Results:
Button has Kc Kh (straight, jack high).
Hero has Ah 9s (straight, jack high).

Hand 5: I don't get too many river check-raises in, but when I do it feels great. Why no flop bet? I had a terrible, terrible image at this point.

Preflop: Hero is SB with Ks, 4s.
Button calls, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (3 SB) 5s, 8s, 9d (3 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, Button calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (3 BB) Td (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, Button bets, Hero calls, BB folds.

River: (5 BB) 3s (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero raises, Button calls.

Results:
Button has Jh Qh (straight, queen high).
Hero has Ks 4s (flush, king high).

Hand 6: Why is this call with 84s okay and the other one was not? I never said the other was not. I just said it was very very loose. Villain here was stealing basically every hand (I was stealing often, but not as often as this guy). I made a free showdown raise on the turn, hoping to drag an extra bet out of a flush draw/overcard hand. I didn't have much doubt about my hand being best on the turn, but I did have doubts about getting paid off on the river.

Preflop: Hero is BB with 4c, 8c.
2 folds, SB raises, Hero calls.

Flop: (4 SB) 4s, 2h, Qh (2 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (3 BB) 5d (2 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, SB calls.

River: (7 BB) 6d (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Results:
SB has Ac 2c (one pair, twos).
Hero has 4c 8c (one pair, fours).

Hand 7: Wow...

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9d, 9h.
Button raises, Hero 3-bets, 1 fold, Button folds.

Hand 8: My read was that villain would bet from the button with ATC if it got checked to him. I was a little worried about the coldcall, but then I saw his stack and realized he was probably going down with any pair.

Preflop: Hero is BB with Jh, 6d.
1 fold, MP calls, Button calls, 1 fold, Hero checks.

Flop: (3.50 SB) Jd, 2h, 3h (3 players)
Hero checks, MP checks, Button bets, Hero raises, MP calls, Button folds.

Turn: (4.25 BB) Kd (2 players)
Hero bets, MP calls.

River: (6.25 BB) Tc (2 players)
Hero bets, MP calls $1 (All-In).

Results:
Hero has Jh 6d (one pair, jacks).
MP has 3d Ah (one pair, threes).

Hand 9: I was unhappy at the river card until I saw the slight pause where villain would normally show his hand. That's the pause that asks the player whether he wants to show his cards or muck. I was very relieved.

Preflop: Hero is SB with Jc, Jh.
UTG calls, 1 fold, CO calls, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, 1 fold, UTG folds, CO calls, Button calls.

Flop: (11 SB) 6s, Js, 4c (3 players)
Hero bets, CO calls, Button calls.

Turn: (7 BB) 5s (3 players)
Hero bets, CO raises, Button folds, Hero 3-bets, CO caps (all-in), Hero calls.

River: (15 BB) 2s (2 players)

Results:
Hero has Jc Jh (three of a kind, jacks).
CO has 4h 5c (two pair, fives and fours).
