Day 34-10: +$72.75 (+36 BB at $1/2)

Level: +$203.75 in 1322 table minutes (+102 BB at $1/2)
Overall: +$306.90 in 4969 table minutes

For the last couple weeks, I haven't had time for online poker, which isn't to say that I haven't had time for poker. From January 4 through January 8, I was at a math conference in New Orlenas. I found some time for live NL at Harrah's (just two blocks from where I was staying) and came out a solid $350 ahead for my time (about 4 hours at $1-2). But it's good to get back to the game that I really like (even if it isn't as profitable).

With my big upswing today, I have cleared the $1/2 level and am moving on to $2/4. But not before posting a few hands and some more stats (stats will be on a separate post).

Hand 1: No, I didn't cap preflop. Villain has pretty solid stats and has played a fairly clean game, so I called here because I felt there was some deception value. I hate that he checked the flop. I hate that he called the turn bet. But on the river, I have too much of a hand to check-fold, not enough of a hand to check-call (because he would need to bluff a huge percent of the time for a check-call to be right, and I didn't think he would), so I took the bet-fold option. I'm pretty sure he had KQ/AQ here, but I won't ever know for sure.

Preflop: Hero is SB with Ah, Ad. CO posts a blind of $1.
1 fold, MP calls, CO (poster) checks, 1 fold, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, MP folds, CO folds, Hero calls.

Flop: (8 SB) Jd, Qh, Qd (2 players)
Hero checks, BB checks.

Turn: (4 BB) 4s (2 players)
Hero bets, BB calls.

River: (6 BB) 2d (2 players)
Herp bets, BB raises, Hero folds.

Hand 2: I don't mind folding AK on a paired board to this flop bet. A loose peel would also have been fine with the backdoor flush draw to bail me out sometimes, but SB was a little bit passive and I didn't like that he donked.

Preflop: Hero is BB with Kc, Ad.
3 folds, Button calls, SB completes, BB raises, Button calls, SB calls.

Flop: (6 SB) Qd, 8d, Qh (3 players)
SB bets, Hero folds, Button calls.

Turn: (4 BB) 3s (2 players)
SB bets, Button folds.

Hand 3: Quads are fun. I'm just very surprised I didn't get any action from villain. That's too bad.

Preflop: Hero is SB with Ah, 7c.
1 fold, MP calls, 1 fold, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (3 SB) Kc, 7d, Jd (3 players)
Hero bets, BB folds, MP calls.

Turn: (2.50 BB) 7s (2 players)
Hero bets, MP calls.

River: (4.50 BB) 7h (2 players)
Hero bets, MP calls.

Results:
MP has Qd Kd (full house, sevens full of kings).
Hero has Ah 7c (four of a kind, sevens).

Hand 4: Here's an interesting weak ace hand.

Preflop: Hero is BB with 2d, Ah.
UTG calls, 1 fold, Button calls, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (4 SB) 2h, 3h, 7s (4 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, Button bets, SB folds, Hero calls, UTG calls.

Turn: (3.50 BB) Th (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG checks, Button bets, Hero calls, UTG raises, Button calls, Hero calls.

River: (9.50 BB) 6h (3 players)
BB bets, UTG calls, Button calls.

Results:
Hero has 2d Ah (flush, ace high).
UTG has Jh Qh (flush, queen high).
Button has 9h 5h (flush, ten high).

Hand 5: Here's one that I botched against an aggressive player. Villain has been raising a lot preflop, but has been a little weak postflop. The turn donk was an attempt to knock out various ace-high hands that he might be holding. When he called the turn bet and I paired up on the river, I should have either check-called or bet-folded. Bet-calling is a bad play.

Preflop: Hero is BB with Ts, Kh.
1 fold, Button raises, 1 fold, Hero calls.

Flop: (4.50 SB) 6d, 4s, 4h (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (3.25 BB) 8c (2 players)
Hero bets, Button calls.

River: (5.25 BB) Kd (2 players)
Hero bets, Button raises, Hero calls.

Results:
Hero has Ts Kh (two pair, kings and fours).
Button has 4d Ad (three of a kind, fours).

Hand 6: The turn bet is a solid value bet. Sometimes SB has QQ and gets scared, but he also has AQ/AT/TT/99 and I get to squeeze value out of some of those, plus there's MP who is just hanging around as well.

Preflop: Hero is Button with Js, Ts.
1 fold, MP calls, Button raises, SB 3-bets, 1 fold, MP calls, Hero calls.

Flop: (10 SB) Jc, 7d, 3s (3 players)
SB bets, MP calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (6.50 BB) Kd (3 players)
SB checks, MP checks, Hero bets, SB calls, MP calls.

River: (9.50 BB) 6c (3 players)
SB checks, MP checks, Hero checks.

Results:
SB has Qc Ac (high card, ace).
MP has Th As (high card, ace).
Hero has Js Ts (one pair, jacks).
