There's nothing like running super hot to make you feel like you're awesome at poker. Of course, I'm probably not much better today than I was yesterday, but I do feel like I played a number of hands very well. I'm going back on myself with this overlimping thing. I don't have enough information on the players that I'm playing against to really outplay them postflop. Yes, I'm getting some good information, but it's not enough to make really loose limps. I would rather end up as a 25/18 winning player than a 30/20 losing player.
I decided not to post all of the brag hands, which included 3 sets and several straights.
Hand 1: Value bet.
Preflop: Hero is Button with Tc, Ah.
2 folds, CO calls, Hero raises, SB calls, 1 fold, CO calls.
Flop: (7 SB) 6h, Td, 6s (3 players)
SB checks, CO bets, Hero raises, SB folds, CO calls.
Turn: (5.50 BB) Kh (2 players)
CO checks, Hero bets, CO calls.
River: (7.50 BB) Kd (2 players)
CO checks, Button bets, CO calls.
Results:
CO has Qd Th (two pair, kings and tens).
Hero has Tc Ah (two pair, kings and tens).
Hand 2: Villain has been at the table for a few orbits and I'm very suspicious of his play. The paired hi-lo board with ace-high was a good situation for me to look him up.
Preflop: Hero is SB with As, 7d.
2 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, Hero completes, BB checks.
Flop: (3 SB) 4h, 4d, Ks (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, CO bets, Hero calls, BB folds.
Turn: (2.50 BB) Kc (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls.
River: (4.50 BB) 6c (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls.
Results:
Hero has As 7d (two pair, kings and fours).
CO has Qd 9c (two pair, kings and fours).
Hand 3: Check-fold top pair in a 4-handed pot from SB. The player to my left liked to bet flops and the rest of the table was loose-passive, so I checked to get all the information I needed.
Preflop: Hero is SB with 5s, As.
2 folds, CO calls, Button calls, Hero completes, BB checks.
Flop: (4 SB) 3s, Qd, Ac (4 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, CO calls, Button raises, Hero folds, BB calls, CO calls.
Turn: (5 BB) 9c (3 players)
BB checks, CO checks, Button bets, BB folds, CO calls.
River: (7 BB) 4d (2 players)
CO checks, Button bets, CO calls.
Results:
CO has Jh Qc (one pair, queens).
Button has Ad 3d (two pair, aces and threes).
Hand 4: I should have folded this river, but this raise confused me so much until I saw the showdown. On the plus side, this call gave me a whole lot of valuable information about CO.
Preflop: Hero is MP with Kc, Kh.
1 fold, Hero raises, CO calls, 2 folds, BB calls.
Flop: (6.50 SB) 6c, 3s, Ad (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, CO calls, BB folds.
Turn: (4.25 BB) 5h (2 players)
Hero bets, CO calls.
River: (6.25 BB) Qh (2 players)
Hero bets, CO raises, Hero calls.
Results:
Hero has Kc Kh (one pair, kings).
CO has Qs 5s (two pair, queens and fives).
Hand 5: Turn check-raise bluff FTW! I had a read that this TAG was a little bit weak against raises, having seen him bet-fold in a couple spots previously. So I thought I would take a shot at making him fold a big ace. I think that's what happened here, but it's also possible he folded 88 or some hand like that. He doesn't fold JJ+ (nor should he).
Hand 5: Flopping the nuts with the nut redraw is good. Getting raised on the turn by two pair is even better.
Preflop: Hero is UTG with Kc, Tc.
Hero raises, MP calls, 2 folds, SB calls, BB calls.
Flop: (8 SB) Jd, Ac, Qc (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, MP calls, SB calls, BB folds.
Turn: (5.50 BB) 8h (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, MP raises, SB folds, Hero 3-bets, MP calls.
River: (11.50 BB) 9h (2 players)
Hero bets, MP calls.
Results:
Hero has Kc Tc (straight, ace high).
MP has Qs Js (two pair, queens and jacks).
Hand 6: I had a terrible image leading into this hand. I had just raised preflop the previous 3 hands and didn't show down any of the monsters I held. I wasn't thrilled to be getting action on this board (better two pairs are possible and reasonable) and I hated the river card. I think if I didn't have a LAG image, I could check-fold here. Actually, I probably should have been able to fold anyway.
Preflop: Hero is SB with Kc, Td.
UTG calls, 1 fold, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, UTG folds, Hero calls.
Flop: (7 SB) Ks, Ts, Ac (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, Hero caps, BB calls.
Turn: (7.50 BB) 8c (2 players)
Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.
River: (11.50 BB) Jc (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, Hero calls.
Results:
BB has Qd Ad (straight, ace high).
Hero has Kc Td (two pair, kings and tens).
